Katie earned an undergraduate degree in Nutrition at the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University. She graduated from Stanford University’s Primary Care Program in 1996 as a Physician Assistant and served on faculty for 13 years as Clinical Instructor and Co-Coordinator for the Stanford University Primary Care satellite program in San Diego. From her earliest days at SDSM, Katie has been developing specialized exercise and lifestyle programs for individual and corporate clients – a personalized approach to health care that has helped place SDSM at the forefront of the wellness movement. Based on her depth of knowledge in exercise physiology and nutrition, coupled with her experience as a physician assistant and project administrator, Katie has created progressive programs in preventive care.
In addition to her professional work, Katie participates in Medical Mission trips, including visits to Mexico, Kenya and locations in the U.S.
Katie is an accomplished athlete who captained the track and cross-country teams at the University of Wisconsin. She embodies the credo that exercise and good nutrition have a positive effect on all aspects of health, from the cardiovascular system to psychological wellbeing. Still a runner, Katie also likes to cycle, hike, swim at the Cove, and cross-country ski with her family in the Kettle Moraine Forest in Southern Wisconsin. She is an avid reader, loves the beach, and tinkers at the piano.
I believe the art of preventive medicine is about motivating patients to take charge of their own health. With guidance and encouragement, anyone can achieve their personal level of optimal health.
